Matt’s Story
The Why Behind Our Foundation
Matt Harbin was the kind of person who made things more fun just by showing up.
He was ambitious, athletic, enthusiastic, and genuinely kind. Matt had a way of making the people around him feel like they were capable of more than they thought. He himself believed he could do anything, and the people who knew him believed it too.
On April 2nd, 2018, Matt took his own life. He was fighting a battle that none of us could see, and we lost him before we ever got the chance to help.
His absence is felt every single day. And it’s the reason this foundation exists.
Matt, In Our Words
What Matt Stands For Now
This foundation carries Matt’s name because his life deserves to stand for something. Matt believed in possibility. The solution — no matter how far-fetched or difficult to accomplish. He’d want us to get up and create a world where mental health matters.
If you knew Matt, you know he wouldn’t stop until he reached the pinnacle of whatever he set his mind to. The foundation does the same, starting with the goal of ending the mental health crisis. One school, one conversation, one community at a time.
In Matt’s name and memory, that’s what we’re doing. We’d love for you to be part of it.
